A few HONR279Q (UMD Harry Potter course) students attended the 2015 Chestertown Harry Potter Festival and enjoyed themselves.
The Annual Harry Potter Conference at Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia will be held this year in October 20-22nd, 2016. The conference offers, on the first day, a section for scholarly work—essays presented by a diverse academic population—as well as a fun Harry Potter festival on the second day. Those interested can submit papers “arising out of J.K. Rowling’s literature” in their website here.

UMD alumni and writer for TERP magazine, Karen Shih (’09) published a story titled, “Harry Potter” Fans and the Anxiety Over the ‘Cursed Child.'” The article features Dr. Butler (professor of the Harry Potter course at the University of Maryland, College Park) and Meg Galuardi (’16), a student who took the course as a senior the first year that it was introduced on campus.

The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center at the University of Maryland, College Park hosted a performance of John Williams’ most famous film soundtrack masterpieces, including the original film score for the first and second Harry Potter movies. The event took place on May 28th, 2016 at 8:00PM.
Our beloved, “Hedwig’s Theme,” the iconic Harry Potter musical theme is included in the set. The description of the event is as follows:
